Tips for Basic Firing Schedules of Wissmach COE 96

The following schedules should be used as a reference and may need to be adjusted to suit how your kiln fires to achieve the desired effect. Each firing schedule is designed for a two-layer (or 6mm) project. Schedules may need to be adjusted based on factors such as thickness, overall size, and desired finish. The following schedules are intended for use with Wissmach Glass COE 96 fusible glass. Using these schedules with glass from another manufacturer may end up with inconsistent results.

Firing Schedule Notes: What to Expect in Each Temperature Range

1320°

• Frit powder should become glossy and slightly smooth at this temperature
• Fine frit may remain slightly rough but become glossy
• Medium frit, coarse frit, and sheet glass will be tacked, but may maintain angular or hard edges.

1375°

• Frit powder should be almost or fully fused into the base glass
• Fine frit – light applications may fully fuse, while heavier applications may maintain some texture
• Medium and coarse frit will soften, but still maintain much of their texture
• Sheet glass may not have fully softened edges

1420°

• Frit powder, medium, and fine frits should be fully fused at this temperature
• Coarse frit and sheet glass should still maintain some texture, but be contour-fused
